JOHN B. LUND

President & CEO

John Lund is the President and CEO of America First Credit Union headquartered in Riverdale, Utah.

John has had a diverse and successful career, working in a variety of areas and responsibilities. He started with AFCU in January of 1975 – and as many young people, began his employment in an entry-level position as a Microfilm Technician in Records and as the credit union’s courier.

John then left operations to work directly with the members in the position of Loan Officer, then Assistant Branch Manager, and finally as Branch Manager.

John was then asked to come back into operations and manage the Cashier Department, which at the time included check processing, VISA, payrolls/ACH, and ATM services.

John was then promoted to Vice President, and assigned to manage the Information Technology and Data Processing Division.

In June of 1993, John was VP over Branch Operations, and then Lending Services. In 1997, he was promoted to Executive Vice President, where his responsibilities included: Branch Operations, Electronic/Automated Services, IT, Product Management & Business Intelligence, Marketing, Call Centers, Training, Loan Administration, Mortgage Origination, Business Services, and Service Quality.

John was appointed to President and CEO in September of 2012, after 37 years of credit union service with AFCU.

John has a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Weber State University and a Master of Business Administration. He graduated with honors from Western CUNA Management School and also completed the CUES Certified Chief Executive Program.

Active in the credit union movement, John holds a variety of leadership positions. He currently serves as a director of the Utah Credit Union Association, and is a past Chair of the Association, director of Vero Corporation (a subsidiary of CU Direct), past director and Chair of CU Direct Corporation (CUDL), previous Vice Chair for the Member Business Lending CUSO, and previous director of the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce.  John also serves as a Director for the credit union’s Education Foundation in Utah – 100% for Kids, which supports education by providing schools and teachers with scholarships and grants.

John has been recognized by the Credit Union Executive Society, being awarded the Technology Executive of the Year, in 2001 – and spotlighted as a “Rising 100” in 2006. John was selected by Utah Business Magazine as CEO of the Year Lifetime Achievement for 2018.

John has worked with the Boy Scouts of America for many years. He enjoys spending time with family, boating, golfing, fly fishing, hiking, gardening, and traveling. John and his wife Julie, reside in Huntsville, Utah. They are the proud parents of three children, two sons and one daughter. They have three grandsons, one grand-daughter, and other grandson on the way.
