77th annual meeting

America First Credit Union Holds 77th Annual Meeting, Elects New Board Members

Riverdale, Utah –  America First Credit Union held its 77th Annual Meeting on Tuesday, April 19, 2016. On the agenda was a board election and voting for new credit union board officers. Members voted to retain 3 current board members.  Board incumbents Barney Chapman, Kenlon Reeve and Michael Roden were retained by the voting membership. James Wendler will continue to serve as Board Chair, with Linda Carver as Vice Chair and Kenlon Reeve as Secretary.

Held in April of each year, the purpose of the Annual Meeting is to share the financial state of the credit union and give members the opportunity to determine the course of action by electing fellow members to serve on the Board of Directors. The dedicated and qualified individuals share their time, talents and efforts without compensation, making them part of the unique cooperative, not-for-profit structure. Incumbents were elected to the Board based on absentee ballots and votes from those in attendance joining fellow Board members as the credit union’s guiding voice.

The annual event was once again streamed live via the credit union’s Twitter account for added engagement and conversations online. Giveaways were held via Twitter to award those tuning in that were unable to make the meeting in person.

Helping to feed thousands of kids who need it the most, Hayden Seeley earns High 5 Award

High 5 - Helping Feed Thousands

Nomination letter sent in by Joni Clark:

Hayden Seeley is the Director of Food Services for Salt Lake Community Action Program (SLCAP) and Head Start. In just under one year, he has helped to merge SLCAP and Head Start into one agency and single handedly run a fully functioning kitchen that serves over 4,000 hot, fresh and nutritious meals to 32 different Head Start locations across Salt Lake and Tooele County. Hayden is extremely dedicated and loves his work with low-income children and their families.

He is deeply concerned about how our children in our community are being fed, what they are eating and how that impacts their education, growth and learning. Hayden also oversees five food pantries across the valley which each serve nearly 400 individuals per day and about six million pounds of food each year to our community.

During the summer months when school is not in session, Hayden also runs the Summer Food Service Program at five locations across the valley. This program feeds children under eighteen free of charge for both lunch and dinner and their parents at a small cost. This ensures that the children are still getting a healthy and nutritious meal even when school is not in session. Overall, Hayden is extremely dedicated to our community and ensuring that our children are being well fed and taken care of each day. He has such a passion and commitment to his job and his community that is extremely commendable. He deserves to be recognized for his selflessness that he gives to others.

Security Update: Be on Guard against Fraud

As the April tax deadline approaches, it can definitely be a stressful time of year. And the proliferation of criminals looking to rob you of your resources only adds to the anxiety.

Below are some tips to help you avoid malware and phishing attacks and put your mind more at ease.

• The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will never send you an email. You can stop these threats right there. If you receive a communication purporting to be from the IRS, delete it immediately.

• Don’t click on links or open attachments inside unsolicited messages. This is always a security best practice.

• Never file your taxes or conduct any sensitive transaction over public Wi-Fi networks. These sharing services can expose your data to potential interception.

• Use strong passwords.

• If it sounds too good to be true, it is.

• And be sure to visit us here to see how we’re working to protect your information and your hard-earned money.

High 5 awarded to custodian who pours his heart and soul into his job

High Five Awarded to Custodian

Nomination letter sent in by Julie Denson:

Dave Schildknecht is the best janitor an elementary school could ever have. He keeps our walks clear, the lunch room clean, the school clean and does it all with a big happy smile on his face. He brings such a positive, happy light to our school every day. He is kind to the kids and helps them in every way that he can. He is kind and considerate to all he works with. I think sometimes janitors don’t get the credit they deserve with all they have to deal with so that is why I nominated Dave Schildknecht for a High 5.
